A Couple Days In The U.P.
Every year I have the best intentions of getting up to the UP to do a fall color tour. It works out the same every time. I want to go to the Porcupine Mountains for a week. By the time the 2nd week of October gets here I never have a full week of vacation left. This year is no different, but in a last ditch effort to photograph some fall colors in the UP I headed toward Munising.
I stopped at Bob’s house at 4:30 AM on Friday, and to my surprise Bob was actually ready to go. By around 10:00 AM we were looking for a hotel in Munising. The weather didn’t really cooperate with us, but we made the best of it. It was mostly cold and cloudly with some sun once in a while. We explored the Hiawatha National forest on Friday, and spent the day on Saturday going to Miner’s Beach and several local waterfalls. While we were at Miners Beach I met Andy Richards. Andy is a fellow photography from Michigan. You can visit his web site here.
Sunday morning came early and we packed the Jeep, and headed home, but first a quick stop at Fayette Satet Historical Park. We get there before sunrise, and I was able to get a couple of decent shots before it got really cold and windy.
My gallery from this weekend can be found here.
