One Year Ago Today…
Last year Peggy and I were in Italy with our friends Eric & Jackie Kalvaitis and Darryl and Jeanne Rasch. Lately we’ve been reminiscing about that time the six of us spent together. I suppose it has something to do with the fact that this is the anniversary of the date we were over there, so I started wonder exactly where we were at. I dug through the photo archives to find out just where we were at. It turns out that on this day last year we were in Florence, Italy.
One of the sight seeing highlights of the day we spent in Florence was seeing Michelangelo’s David. There is a reason that this is considered by most people to be the greatest sculpture in the world. ‘Nuff said as Stan Lee would say.
Digging through the photos I found this panoramic that I took of the Florence skyline that I never stitched together. This is a hand held five frame stitch. I didn’t set a custom white balance. The whole pano turned out to be 10 inches high by 50 inches long. This is crop representing about 2/3rds of the whole. You can see a couple of Florence’s most popular landmarks. On the right is the Duomo, and on the left you see the Ponte Vecchio over the Arno River. Unfortunately it was kind of hazy that morning.

Another “sight” we seen that days was this young lady. She was quite pleased with herself. I don’t know much about fashion, so maybe it was my ignorance showing, but I found her outfit quite humorous. I guess I wasn’t the only. As she posed for her boyfriend several other people were sneaking shots of her for the vacation memoirs. For some reason I found her very Disney like. I keep thinking about Mickey Mouse.

This was also the day we got two traffic tickets. Of course everything is done via hidden camera, so you don’t even know if you get a ticket or not until months, yes months, after you’ve been home from your vacation. It’s hard not to get a ticket in Italy with all of the cameras. It’s just part of the expenses. Ciao.
